Gulet

guletAlthough some variations of the word Gulet exist, sometimes due to native language factors as in the case of Goulette, Guletta, Golette, the most frequently used ones are Gulet and Gullet.

The word Gulet is often used to comprise also Aynakic (Ketch-Gulet) and Tirhandil. However, boat builders and boating professionals in Turkey including brokers usually use the word Gulet for the boats whose most distinctive feature is the rounded aft compared to Ketch Gulet and Tirhandil.

The length of a Gulet generally ranges from 16m to 35m, usually with two masts. However, some boatyards have started to build Gulets over 40m.
